Theresa May is nearly as unpopular as Jeremy Corbyn once was

Someone made the catastrophic mistake of turning the election into a presidential campaign - May vs Corbyn. At the end of May, after a few weeks of a very negative campaign and badly communicated manifesto, this dropped to -5 which is bad, but not impossible to overcome. He garnered 34.8% in the first round and scooped a whopping 89.7% of the Parisian vote in the second round.

Between the 1960s and up to and including the 1992 general election, more than 60% of 18 to 24-year-olds voted in general elections.

British Prime Minister Theresa May will face an immediate leadership challenge from eurosceptic lawmakers in her party if she seeks to water down her plans for Brexit, the Sunday Telegraph reported, citing senior Conservative sources.

And what of Labour, led by a man previously disowned by a significant number of his own MPs, but propelled by the far-left Momentum movement, the so-called liberal elite, and the "youth vote"? The Conservative Party leader has a net approval rating of -35%, having been rated +10% by Brits in April after she announced the election. The foregoing has exposed Mrs May to varied attacks both home and overseas.

Also peppering the pot may have been the stunningly bad campaign run by the Conservatives, complete with a refusal from the prime minister to bother participating in the televised debate.

Mrs May, however, said the United Kingdom now more than ever needed certainty that she was now poised to offer.

However for some, the biggest surprise of all was the fact the efforts of the UK's newspapers to undermine Corbyn and boost May had little-to-no impact on the outcome of the election. This was despite many European Union leaders taunting her after the results of the poll became public. After her woeful response as Environment Secretary to Yorkshire's winter floods, she became Justice Secretary where she struggled to comprehend the independence of the judiciary. We have every confidence in the honesty and overall integrity of the new FNM government, but we nonetheless urge it once again to act at all times scrupulously in the interests of the whole country.

Nonetheless, those students may now be confused following last week's General Election in Britain. This would raise the prospect of a new Labour Government under Jeremy Corbyn whose support has only increased by each passing day. The Conservative Party faced controversies over its manifesto (a decision not to cap social care bills for the elderly was labelled a "dementia tax" that would penalise those with more complex medical conditions), May appeared aloof and arrogant, declining to appear in televised leaders' debates and refused to engage on her intended strategy in upcoming Brexit negotiations.

In all of this, Millennials were probably keen observers. If so, they will be a demographic that can no longer be ignored by policy-makers.

Mrs May's move to strengthen her hand with a projected larger majority in a snap election proved to be a awful miscalculation. I differ on that one. In the dozen years between the election of Tony Blair (1997) and David Cameron's coalition government (2010), there were no less than three Conservative leaders in rapid succession.

Establishment politicians have failed to deliver for the ordinary voter. Theresa May gambled on a temporary advantage in the opinion polls to increase her party's majority in the House of Commons-and, ostensibly, to strengthen Britain's hand in the Brexit negotiations in Brussels.

May's favourability among people who voted Tory in 2015 decreased significantly as the campaign progressed.

And if there's another election much later, he will still need to deal with the ironclad doubts that a majority of British voters retain about his suitability to lead their country.
