Sarfraz hails Pakistan bowling display

Eoin Morgan lamented the lack of home advantage afforded to his England team in Cardiff after they crashed out of the Champions Trophy following a shock semi-final defeat to Pakistan.

A 75-run partnership between Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and pace bowler Mohammad Amir led Pakistan to an incredible victory. Pakistan bowlers were inspiring yesterday with Hasan and Junaid claiming 3 wickets each and Amir along with Ashraf secured 2 wickets each which means there were no run-outs at all. "We knew that we were going to play on a used wicket at some stage in this tournament".

Joe Root and Eoin Morgan continued to score at about five runs an over against accurate Pakistan bowling and tight fielding. They will face the winners of today's clash between India and Bangladesh in Sunday's final. But with the game getting the same wicket as the Pakistan versus Sri Lanka match, it could be slightly on the slower side.

He was all praise for pacer Hasan Ali, who took a three-wicket haul for the third time in a row.

'What we have seen today is a Pakistan team turn up and deliver a flawless performance'.

Young Fakhar Zaman's second consecutive fifty in the tournament set the tone for Pakistan as they comfortably chased down a below-par score of 212 against England.

Jos Buttler (4) lasted seven balls before edging Junaid Khan to Sarfraz and Moeen Ali (11) was brilliantly caught by a diving Fakhar Zaman running round the mid-wicket boundary.

Pakistan come into this match having secured four wins in their last five ODI outings (L1); losing four on the trot immediately before this run.

Ali, who conceded 70 runs against India, is now a leading bowler in the tournament with 10 wickets.

Bairstow replaced Roy after the Surrey opener had managed just 51 runs in eight ODI innings this season.

India and Pakistan had earlier fought in the final of the World T20 in South Africa in 2007.

Morgan believes that experience, on the same strip prepared for Wednesday's match, played its part - and spelled out that England did not take unpredictable Pakistan lightly. We just played our natural games.

Pakistan is riding high after Captain Sarfraz Ahmed guided them to be in this position.

Anything is possible in sports and that's exactly what happened when Pakistan face-off against tournament favourite England. Unable to hit out with the ball at the risk of England not using all its overs - despite constant temptation from Pakistan's well-drilled attack - Stokes did worse with the ball, going for 0-38 in his 3.1 overs.
