Warriors beat Cavaliers to take NBA title

Most of the Cavaliers believe their best chance to win the series was to be the more physical team, something that came out with Cleveland down 3-0 in the best-of-seven series.

Sparked by 39 points from Kevin Durant and 34 from Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors won their fifth NBA title Monday, beating Cleveland 129-120 to capture the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons.

"You know, so you wouldn't hold your head down, but you would be like, 'OK, it's just not my time.' So Golden State is a worthy opponent, obviously been the best team in our league for the last three years, the best team this year, and they showcased that throughout the postseason, and we were another opponent in their way".

There is no such thing as a failed season, according to LeBron James after defending champions the Cleveland Cavaliers lost their National Basketball Association crown to the Golden State Warriors.

"I broke down so I couldn't really finish my speech", he said.

"You have to tip your hat to Cleveland", he said.

"We were able to get them previous year, and they went out and got one of the best players that this league has ever seen", James said.

"LeBron and Kyrie - I've never seen none like them two before".

"We prevailed, we are champions and it was wonderful to do it on our own floor".

What made them great: With Cousy controlling a powerful offense and Russell patrolling the paint for the league's leading defense, the Celtics outscored teams by more than nine points per game while going 23-5 and 11-3 on neutral courts - yes, National Basketball Association teams played neutral-site games back then. He dramatically drove and dunked on Cleveland's defense, knocked down big 3-pointers and blocked shots while handling the load of defending King James. Kevin Love had a bad night with only 6 points.

LeBron James was playing in his seventh straight NBA Finals. With a shot at his first NBA Championship, Durant had to step up more than ever with the pressure greater than it's ever been. But those images felt ancient on Monday night, as the Cavaliers' season came to an end, falling 129-120 and losing the NBA Finals 4-1 to the Golden State Warriors.

That pushed Golden State to add Durant as a free agent last July and the results have been devastating.

"I don't think it's just the Spurs".

"Experience is the best teacher in life, and he's just experiencing and experiencing and experiencing", said James.

Then the refs took center stage again with 3:08 to go in the half when J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson were involved in a scuffle with David West. He stole a title last season, but this year he was only able to prevent the sweep in Game 4.

"The team we had, we were great, right where you want to be", said Warriors forward Draymond Green.

The 2017 NBA Finals served as a rubber match of sorts between the teams.

This was a special post-season for the Warriors who only lost one match in the entire Playoffs en route to their fantastic title. "I can feel it. there are a few things you can take away from the series, but the only way to go is to grow from here".

It seems safe to say LeBron is plenty confident in his abilities after he averaged 33.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists while shooting 56.4 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from three over the five Finals games.
