Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry lead Warriors to NBA title

The Golden State Warriors are right where they were last: up 3-1 in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With back-to-back steals, the Cavaliers were able to take the lead.

They went up 3-0 in the series but ran into a determined group of opponents last Friday night in Cleveland. Kyrie Irving scored 26 points, J.R. Smith added 25 and Tristan Thompson had 15.

After an extended review of the confrontation, officials Danny Crawford and Ed Malloy assessed technical fouls to Thompson and Smith as well and did not give West a second technical, which would have resulted in an ejection. Expect Warriors to come out with all guns blazing in Game 4.

Pay attention to what kind of ball-stopping the Dubs do in the fourth quarter tonight, a quarter during which, over the first four games, they've allowed an average of 22.5 points, after giving up 29.8 over the first three frames.

Durant shot 70 percent in Game 5, the best field-goal percentage in a title-clinching win in NBA Finals history with a minimum 20 attempts and tied for the fifth-best overall, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

OKC fans calling KD a cupcake and saying it was a "cake walk" for him to the Finals, which it was, but KD did the opposite of what LeBron did, instead of having multiple press conference and TV specials about how many games they were going to win and championship banners they would hang. They're at home, they've been provoked and they're still the deeper and more versatile team.

But James and Kyrie Irving kept battling for a while, kept pushing the Warriors, and it brought out the best of the Warriors again, at the end.

Of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers don't just have to play great to win, but they also have to stop the super team of the Golden State Warriors if they want to capture their second consecutive NBA Championship. A record for three-point shooting; 24 of them were made by the Cavaliers.

James had a game-high 41 points and Irving hit tough shots all night but defensive breakdowns by Cleveland led to easy baskets late in the game for the Warriors, igniting a deafening crowd. "We have to try to do it again in Game 5". I hope we're a little more nervous. "Steph was doing a good job of taking on that double team and trying to find a pass and we just tried to make plays after that". Two years ago, they lost 2 games at home. Add to that the fact that the Cavaliers know they face an uphill battle to come back and beat Golden State, and I think the odds have swung heavily in favor of the team from the Bay. "We didn't seem that nervous in Game 4", Kerr said before the game.

They practiced it several times as heads turned in Oracle Arena to watch and listen. Talked about it. Going home is a good feeling, but it has to go with playing better.

The Warriors could conceivably win the next three to four National Basketball Association titles before another team presents a serious challenge to their dominance.
