NBA Finals notes: Ticket prices high for Game 3; Nielsen ratings up

"Last year, they dominated in the first quarter and first half, and I expect the same thing (Wednesday)". "KD", was LeBron's simple answer.

"They took care of home court".

To look at what happened in the first two games and project what might happen next, former National Basketball Association video coordinator Mo Dakhil (@thejumpballnet) joins for a new episode of Fastbreak Breakfast.

Rather than reach back to last year's championship comeback for a confidence boost, James' focus is on figuring out what Cleveland must do to change its fortunes against a Warriors team that is fresher and far more unsafe this year, thanks to the addition of Kevin Durant.

Which brings us to a brief and extremely on-brand moment I'd like to highlight from Game 2. The Warriors have been the home team in all 12 of their postseason series since Kerr's arrival, meaning they've played Game 3 on the road all 12 times. "Disappointing finish, but a good test for us, good reminder of, first of all, how good these guys are, but also a good indication that we had some things to figure out". And only nine teams have stretched an 0-3 deficit into a seven game series in the history of the league.

The Cavs have been the same team, healthy and still relying on their big three of James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. They dictated the pace and mucked up the entire series. But [the Cavaliers] are down 2-0, coming home, crowd's going to be loud, they're going to give everything they have.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers desperately seek a way to beat the Golden State Warriors, but they are running out of time to prove their NBA Finals rivals aren't invincible. James had a Game 2 triple-double. But that showdown ended with Cleveland making history to rattle off three straight victories to win the championship.

Playing in his first NBA Finals, Cavaliers guard Kyle Korver found it hard to adjust to the long waits in between games and in between series.

And while the low point of that partnership - or, at least as much of a low as one can have in a season as full of success as this year has been for Golden State - was that Christmas Day game, it also served as a catalyst to allow the Warriors to get to the level they have arrived at now.

Bombo Radio chief of anchor Ronald Barbarona, meanwhile, believes that the defending champion Cavs will bounce back in Game 3 just like a year ago. And that's been one of our weaknesses this year, that second-side action. And yet, after two games, that is exactly what has happened and the Cavs now find themselves down 2-0 and seemingly in danger of being swept out of the Finals.

If Golden State's core remains intact, the consensus seems to be the Warriors will reach the Finals every season for the foreseeable future, plus two or three seasons not yet seeable. In the second round against Portland, Golden State gave up 40 points to Damian Lillard in a Game 3 loss.

LeBron James dismissed the idea he's exhausted from guarding Kevin Durant.

He's been the best player in the series so far - averaging 35.5 points on 56 percent shooting, including an even 50 percent (7-of-14) from beyond the arc, adding 11.0 boards and 7.0 assists. In Game 2, Durant was bear on both ends, frustrating LeBron James and finishing with three steals and a game-high five blocks. On Thursday, the Cavaliers coughed the ball up 20 times and it resulted in 21 points for Golden State.

And more mini-awards for the NBA Finals. However, if LeBron can carry this Cavaliers team from 2-0 to another championship, then he, in my humble opinion, jumps two places to become one of the three best players, behind Russell and Jordan, in National Basketball Association history.

While most of the star-power comes from the wing positions in this year's Finals matchup - the dirty work being done in the trenches is just as vital to the outcome. "We needed him to be as aggressive as he's ever been".

Little, if anything, has gone right for the Cavs, who have won one quarter in the two games.
